Critiques Hotel Apex International****

26-12-2011 geweldig goed en net hotel midden in het oude centrum en uitzicht op het kasteel. Voor ons waren 3 dagen veel te kort om alles te zien. Er was ook het christmas Festival gaande met heel veel gezelligheid en attractie's. Ook zeker een aanrader om mee te maken.
Wij komen hier sowieso terug en als het kan in hetzelfde hotel.

23-10-2011 Toegegeven, met z'n vieren is elke kamer al snel klein (ook al reizen we licht), maar deze kamer was krap bemeten. Net geen vier bij vier meter, met een badkamer van twee bij twee. Maar de kamer was verder van alle gemakken voorzien (föhn, flatscreen, strijkijzer, minibar, wifi, waterkoker met koffie), schoon en smaakvol ingericht. Bedden waren groot en stevig met lekker veel kussens en een dekbed. Uitstekend geslapen en uitstekend gegeten in het restaurant van het hotel, The Heights, met uitzicht op het kasteel. Ook het ontbijt was meer dan goed. Leuke bijkomstigheid was dat het ontbijt en het avondeten voor onze twee kinderen gratis was en dat ze zonder meerprijs op onze kamer mochten. Het zwembad was heerlijk; lekker om in het warme water te liggen terwijl je buiten de mensen door de koude regen ziet schuifelen. Al met al een zeer prettig hotel voor kinderen. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Bewaakt parkeren achter het hotel voor 8 pond per dag.

15-4-2009 mimo ze ma 4 gwiazdki jest o wiele wyzszy standard niz w innych 4 gwiazdkowych hotelach. wszystko bylo na wysokim poziomie, obsluga, sprzatanie, pokoje. w nocy jest glosno, do poznych godzin, ale da sie przezyc. zdecydowanie najlepszy hotel z 4 gwiazdkowych w jakim bylismy. bardzo polecamy, choc tanio nie jest, warto dolozyc pare groszy i mieszkac bez zadnych"ale...".

15-3-2009 bien placé facilement accessible et tout le confort nécesaire

25-6-2009 I stayed for 3 nights over xmas and had a lovely time. The room was cheap (£220 for 3 nights incl. breakfast). Sadly there was no fridge in the room which I needed for champagne and a little hamper i was bringing for xmas day, so had to pay £30 to upgrade to a superior room. At first I was a bit annoyed at this as I can't remember the last time I stayed in a 4* hotel which didn't have a drinks fridge. Anyway, the hotel kindly upgraded the room for the following 2 nights at no extra cost which gave us a lovely view of the castle from the bedroom, however at certain times of year I'd imagine it could be pretty noisy as it over looks a row of pubs. Overall the hotel was good, not excellent though, but the staff were v helpful & friendly.

25-6-2009 On arriving at the hotel, we were disappointed by the exterior as it looked a bit dowdy. Check-in was fine and we were told about the hotel restaurants, the leisure centre and the bar. Walking along the corridor to our room, the decor was a bit tired, in need of a refresh. Pleasantly surprised with our room, immaculate, with two spacious double beds instead of the two singles we were expecting. Breakfast was served in 5th floor restaurant, which again decor and furniture was very tired but most importantly, the food was fine. We ate in the Metro restaurant on the ground floor one evening and the food was delicious. We used the sauna and pool facilities and these were also very clean and well organised. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Don't be put off by first impressions. We would use again. Good value for money with Skoosh.

25-6-2009 Great lobby; ok room. The room I was assigned was for the handicapped which made getting ready in the morning a bit of a challenge (handles everywhere). There was also no bathtub. Cleanliness was lacking (I found hairs in my shower). In case you have any interest in television late at night there were only 7 channels. The bed was not comfortable and since there was no AC the windows had to be open in order to sleep at night, not a problem if you the hotel wasn't located on a busy street and your room wasn't above a dumpster. On the plus side the breakfast was excellent and the location (Grassmarket) was spot on.

25-6-2009 Great location, clean room, good service and good breakfast. Definitely worth the $150 a night that I paid including breakfast compared to other rates I saw in the area.
There was some construction going on in the Grass Market, but it was not too inconvenient. There was easy walking access to the castle and the royal mile! Lots of great pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
My room with a balcony and view of the castle was lovely!
I also loved that they had nice shampoos and body wash. There was even hot chocolate in the room for the non coffee/tea drinkers.

25-6-2009 Location perfect for sightseeing. Breakfasting with such a wonderful view of the castle was a great experience. We found all the staff exceptionally polite and friendly. Would definitely stay there again when visiting Edinburgh

25-6-2009 The Apex International is a good hotel. The rooms were quite large and clean. The view of the castle was lovely

We ate in the Heights Restaurant. The food was good but the service could have been better. Not once during the meal was our wine and water topped up.

The location was good and the castle and princes street were within walking distance, although the area is very hilly and you do have to climb up quite a few steps. On a couple of occasions we got a taxi which was about £4

Just in front of the hotel there are some roadworks. The drilling started early in the morning and didn't finish until lunchtime.

I would definately stay there again - but only after the roadworks have finished!
